Honest Burgers is a beloved British burger restaurant that has been operating since 2011.

The brand is well-known for its dedication to quality, local ingredients. It even has its own butchery, grows its own potatoes, and sources beer from breweries local to each site.

This focus on quality inspires how Honest Burgers approaches business operations. It provides a consistent, connected experience that’s easy to use and efficient for both teams on the ground and head office staff. While guests enjoy a swift, hassle-free experience.

Central to this success is Honest Burgers’ partnership with Vita Mojo.

This partnership began with Vita Mojo providing the essential tools Honest Burger needed to manage orders and speed up service. However, it became clear to both brands that Honest Burgers needed a fully connected, end-to-end order management solution to ensure deeper customer satisfaction, more significant efficiency gains, and unlock long-term growth.

This is why Honest Burger moved its operations to the Vita Mojo Order Management System.

The solution

Honest Burgers collaborated with Vita Mojo to introduce a bespoke Order Management System tailored specifically for fast-casual dining needs. This gave the business the tools to manage the entire order management process within a single system.

The goal was to use technology to enhance the Honest Burgers customer experience, blending streamlined service, sophisticated customer data insights, and a smooth-running operation.

Technology deployed in our partnership

1. Centralised Menu Management: This feature allows Honest Burgers to avoid multiple platforms and repetitive, manual work by easily managing every menu (across every channel, site and brand) from a single place. This reduces errors, ensures consistency and means that the Honest Burgers team doesn’t have to log in to four separate platforms (POS, Click and Collect, OPAT and Uber Eats) and instead sends out all updates from a single, connected system.

2. Kitchen Management System (KMS): The KMS consolidates all orders from POS, Click and Collect, Uber Eats, and Order and Pay at Table (OPAT) into one workflow. This banishes the need for multiple tablets showing different order streams and reduces the chaos in the kitchen. Allowing every kitchen to fulfil orders from one unified platform helps the team prioritise and manage the orders coming through and accurately fulfil them.

3. Point of Sale (POS): Vita Mojo’s user-friendly POS system speeds up service and ensures an accurate view of stock availability across multiple channels. Critically, the offline functionality ensures uninterrupted service thanks to a payment solution that doesn’t require the internet, leading to an increase in payments accepted.

4: Analytics Pro Platform: The Vita Mojo Analytics platform provides Honest Burgers with a singular data source, enabling restaurant growth driven by data-driven insights. Honest Burgers can track key performance indicators across every channel, location, and brand with real-time visual dashboards. This comprehensive analytics solution allows them to identify trends, recognise strengths, and make agile decisions supported by live data.

5. Bill Splitting options: A robust bill-splitting feature that offers incredible flexibility and simplifies customer payments, handling rounding and UI/UX considerations. Vita Mojo designed options to split bills by covers or by items:

  • Split by Covers: Divide the total equally across diners
  • Split by Items: Guests can pay for specific items or shared items (e.g., a split bottle of wine)
  • Split by specific amounts: One guest pays £20, and another guest on the table pays £100, for example.

6. New integrations: Vita Mojo integrated platforms essential to Honest Burgers into the OMS. These included the delivery partner Uber Eats, Toggle for gift cards, and Market Man for inventory management. This ensured Honest Burgers could still use the tools it wanted to retain while ensuring operational continuity while deploying the new system.

Having a unified menu has completely streamlined the laborious process of updating items across locations and order channels. Before, I had to get up at 5am on launch day to push all the menu changes live on each platform and used to spend sometimes a couple days prior to prep simple menu updates. Now we just update that item once, from a centralised place – and it’s live everywhere. It’s had an incredible time-saving impact on the business.
