With research by the food and drinks analytics company CGA showing a thriving restaurant scene in Manchester (the number of restaurants in the city has risen by 1.3% compared to a national decline of 3.4% in the past 12 months), we thought we’d explore some of the contributing factors to its growth and success.

In the current climate of rising rents and business rates against the backdrop of oncoming Brexit threatening to increase food costs, the restaurant scene in Manchester is remaining resilient and growing with famous celebrity hotspots such as Archie’s expanding and even London-based operators such as Dishoom, Franco Manca and Black Sheep Coffee opening new sites within the M60 ring road.

Food and Drink Markets

A thriving nightlife, growing foreign investment and a young workforce, Manchester has created a perfect storm of conditions for a diverse food culture. Street Feast for example, famous for Dinerama and Giant Robot in London, are now planning on opening 3 sites in Manchester. There is also Hatch, a vibrant award-winning food and drink destination with over 20 independent traders helping their businesses thrive in a unique experience.

The Manchester Food and Drink Festival continued to thrive in its 22nd year last July with its relocation this year to Cathedral Gardens.

Vita Mojo x YO! Sushi Launch in Manchester Piccadilly

Vita Mojo were super excited to launch Yo! Sushi’s first new Grab & Go concept in Manchester Piccadilly with our software ecosystem of kiosks, EPOS and Back of House systems as part of Yo!’s long term strategy of being a multi-channel, multi-format restaurant company.

As commuters start acclimatising to ordering through Yo!’s kiosks, we already see a higher average transaction value of 5% compared to the traditional counter method, and that’s just within the first 2 weeks alone so the future’s bright for what the Yo! and Vita Mojo partnership can deliver.
